Description: It’s 1943, and Lily lives in a seaside village where life is scarcely touched by the war, until the villagers are told to move out of their homes. The whole area becomes out of bounds as the Allied forces prepare to invade France, but Lily’s cat Tips returns to the forbidden area, and Lily decides to enter the danger zone to look for him herself. The story moves between the present day and a wartime diary. It’s based on a real episode: the Devon village was evacuated so American troops could practise for the D-Day landings. It’s described as a heart-warming tale of courage about an abandoned village, a lifelong friendship and one very adventurous cat.
